| About The Founder My mother taught me how to sew at the early age of 9. I hated the task at the time, but quickly came to appreciate it as an adult. The idea of making quilts for abused and neglected children had been on my heart for several years, but like everything else in life, if you don't make time for it, it won't happen. I had many doubts about it. What if no one was interested in the quilts? What if I couldn't find a source that would help distribute them to the kids? What if I couldn't find anyone who would be willing to help me make the quilts? What if I couldn't find enough resources or afford to purchase them? What if I couldn't supply enough quilts for all of the needy children? The "what if's" went on and on. Every time the idea would hit me again, I would begin doubting, and then give it up. One day while reading one of Max Lucado's books, I ran across a quote that stopped me in my tracks. It simply said this "Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God" -Danish Proverb. It spoke straight to my heart. I spent the next few days contemplating that quote and my responsibility to it. I then emailed all of my friends to check the interest. The response was amazing and has been ever since. Every doubt that I ever had was quickly erased and replaced. My only regret is that I wasted so many years and didn't begin it sooner. I cannot express my gratitude to all of my friends and family who have helped with this project. They supported me from day one. I am also extremely greatful to those who have so generously donated fabric and time to this cause. May the Lord bless each of you abundantly!! -Alissa Northington |
